Artistic Director B-boy Crazy Smooth conducted multi-day Creation Lab sessions in Calgary, Montreal and Toronto, designed to pilot the Opening Gates Creation (OGC) Program.
Smooth worked with industry experts Saxon Fraser and Alejandro Rodriguez to establish core objectives, gather participant feedback, and refine the content used in the design of the OGC program. The three Creation Labs, conducted during the month of September, involved small groups of dancers to test concepts in a low-pressure setting, allowing for real-time adjustments to the material. The Labs included presentations on key topics, guided brainstorming activities, and hands-on practice to gauge the engagement and effectiveness of the activities planned for the OGC Program curriculum.
10 Gates is planning 2025 Creation Lab sessions in Halifax, Ottawa and Vancouver.
