Opening Gates Creation Program

Under Crazy Smooth’s leadership, 10 Gates Dancing is introducing the Opening Gates Creation Program.

The Opening Gates Creation Program (OGCP) has been researched and designed to engage mid-career dance artists in an 8-day process to co-create a short dance work that will be previewed at the conclusion of the program. This development initiative seeks to extend Tedd’s legacy of mentoring within the dance community by ensuring it is in service to a whole new generation of Canadian dance artists.

The goal of each 10 Gates’ OGCP is multi-faceted. Firstly, it will provide a framework for artists to co-create with access to tools and mentors that may be outside their usual purview, while also serving to seed ongoing mentorship relationships between dancers and advisors, developing each artist’s confidence and competence. Over time, 10 Gates Dancing will build a repertoire of works that credit the individual artist collaborators.

The OGCP will be launched in the 2027 season.
